Grit Group Fitness is a boutique fitness studio specializing in group fitness classes in Memphis, Tennessee. No treadmills, no squat racks, no intimidation. Not a chain or a franchise. One of one. We’re group fitness for people who love group fitness.
We offer fun and effective workouts in multiple formats (strength, cardio, flexibility, Pilates and more) and create community among members and instructors. We aim to inspire members to make movement part of their healthy lifestyle, no matter where they are in their fitness journey.

About our Owner
Grit Group Fitness owner and instructor Melissa Bamford fell in love with LES MILLS classes in 2010 while living in Tallahassee, Florida and completing a PhD in Sociology at Florida State University. After becoming certified to teach Les Mills BodyAttack, she moved to Memphis and began teaching sociology at the University of Memphis.
Finding a fitness community in Memphis lead to other certifications and many friendships! It has been her dream to find a studio like the one where she started as a member - focused solely on group fitness. She decided to follow that dream and create Grit Group Fitness so that others can find their passion for movement and community, too.
Grit is founded on the principle that we can achieve more together than on our own. Grit is Growth, Resilience, Integrity, Tenacity. Grit is all heart. Grit is MEMPHIS!
